Washington University in St Louis is hiring a Certified Coder to join the Anesthesiology team. In this remote position, you will review medical record documentation to determine accurate billing codes and ensure complete documentation for Anesthesiology services. Your primary focus will be coding evaluation and management services and procedures for pain management and critical care ICU.
What You'll Do
- Review surgical documentation to identify all pertinent facts necessary to select comprehensive diagnoses and procedures describing patient conditions and anesthesia services.
- Code evaluation and management services and procedures for pain management to appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Code evaluation and management services for critical care ICU to appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Contact physicians to review documentation, resolve coding, secure signatures, and tag files for follow-up.
- Assist with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials).
Nice to Have
- Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
- Skills in Computer Systems, CPT Coding, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology.
