About the Role

The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is hiring a Certification Analyst to evaluate applications for the City’s Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE), Locally-based Business Enterprise (LBE), and Emerging Business Enterprise (EBE) programs. You will be responsible for making critical eligibility determinations through detailed analysis of business documentation, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the certification process.

What You'll Do

  • Review and analyze certification applications and contracts, exercising sound judgment to ensure accuracy and compliance with City Rules and Regulations.
  • Draft recommendations for certification approval or denial based on thorough case analysis.
  • Contact clients and vendors via phone and written correspondence to assist with completing the application process.
  • Meet with business owners to interview them and verify application and contract data.
  • Process all lead requests within the Certification System and manage administrative tasks including processing paper correspondence and maintaining secure client files.
  • Handle a high volume of inquiries via the certification helpline and email accounts, providing excellent customer service.
  • Conduct presentations and trainings for potential applicants and senior staff, including attending external outreach events.
  • Provide analytical and project management assistance, developing project plans and supporting team members.
  • Maintain sensitive client data securely and handle archiving, records keeping, and partner agency addendums.
  • Assist with special projects to implement targeted outreach initiatives, coordinating with the External Affairs unit and Business Solution Centers.

  • Project management and organizational skills to assist with planning and executing outreach initiatives.
  • A commitment to public service and supporting small businesses through a meticulous and fair certification process.

Team & Environment

You will report directly to the Certification Supervisor and collaborate with a dedicated team focused on supporting and certifying small businesses in New York City.

Work Mode

This position operates on a hybrid work model and is based in New York, New York.
