Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Central Processing Technician to join our team. This casual, full-time position is responsible for the critical work of receiving, reprocessing, distributing, and storing patient care equipment and instrumentation to support our clinical teams.
What You'll Do
- Transport soiled equipment and perform decontamination and disinfection using automated equipment and manual cleaning.
- Operate sterilizers in compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Inspect, audit, and assemble surgical instrument sets and medical devices for the Operating Room and other patient care areas.
- Assemble surgical case carts accurately and efficiently.
- Process requests for patient care equipment received via computerized system and by telephone.
- May contact outside vendors to coordinate the delivery of rental patient care equipment.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- For Central Service Technicians hired after 12/29/2020: Pass a nationally accredited central service exam within 18 months from hire date.
- Maintain one of the following certifications: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
Nice to Have
- Sterile processing experience or six months of experience in a hospital setting.
