GBMC HealthCare is hiring a Call Center Patient Services Assistant to manage a high volume of inbound calls and support patient services. In this role, you will schedule appointments, register patients, and handle telephone and medication encounters. After the initial training period, this position becomes remote with the understanding that remote status can change with a two-week notice.
What You'll Do
- Receive, screen, and respond to visitor and telephone calls, relating inquiries to established policies and procedures.
- Provide customer service by relaying information about the Medical Center and reminding patients of appointments.
- Schedule patient appointments using a computerized medical system or handwritten schedule.
- Perform pre-registration duties by obtaining pertinent patient information and updating patient charts.
- Code lab requisitions with necessary patient data for proper processing and charging.
- Schedule diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures according to insurance restrictions and ensure patient notification.
- Perform related duties including faxing patient progress notes to referring physicians.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- 6 months of related experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD9 codes.
- Strong skills in written communication and excellent customer service and oral communication.
- Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to perform non-complex arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to organize and maintain files and records.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to work in various offices for training and on campus for training.
- Ability to work on location within an hour when internet service (Citrix) is down or equipment is not functioning.
- Must have excellent internet and cell connection.
- Must have a HIPAA compliant remote workspace.
- All applicants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or obtain a GBMC approved medical or religious exemption prior to starting employment.
Nice to Have
- Bi-lingual in Spanish or Russian.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $16.79 - $24.37 per hour.
Work Mode
This is a hybrid position. The role is on-site for training and transitions to remote work afterward, contingent on maintaining an excellent internet connection and a HIPAA compliant workspace. The remote status can change with a two-week notice.
