Role Overview
This permanent position supports the Marketing and Business Development (MBD) function within the EMEA region, focusing on strengthening the firm’s real estate, tax, and employment practices. The role operates with significant visibility among senior partners and collaborates closely with global MBD teams to align regional efforts with firm-wide objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of business development initiatives, including marketing campaigns across all channels
- Partner with practice leaders and the Director of Business Development to create annual plans, budget proposals, and targeted campaigns
- Ensure regional business goals are met by overseeing and coordinating BD activities
- Serve as the primary liaison between legal teams and business support functions, representing the practices internally and externally
- Build strong working relationships with lawyers and partners to understand strategic priorities
- Develop and deliver tailored proposals, panel pitches, and client presentations
- Manage client development strategies and track progress against objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional MBD teams, including disputes, energy, technology, corporate, banking, events, digital, design, and the Newcastle Hub
- Oversee submissions to legal directories and manage associated timelines
- Monitor and report on practice and sector-specific BD budgets, including return on investment
- Champion best practices and maintain a forward-thinking, improvement-focused mindset
Required Qualifications
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and adaptability
- Commercially aware, confident, and persuasive with a proactive approach
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and support professionals at all levels
- Graduate-level education with a recognised marketing or communications qualification (e.g., CIM)
- Proven project management experience, particularly in turning business challenges into development opportunities
- Leadership skills with a track record of building credibility and delivering high-quality service
- Direct experience in writing and managing bids and proposals
- Ability to navigate complex or difficult situations with flexibility and professionalism
- Willingness to work beyond standard hours when necessary
- Commitment to continuous improvement and taking on additional responsibilities
- Skill in managing expectations and balancing stakeholder needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in business development or marketing within a professional services or partnership setting
- Experience in a legal environment is highly valued
