The City of Virginia Beach is hiring for two Business Applications Specialist II positions within the Public Works department. You will oversee assigned business application systems to support divisional operations, providing comprehensive systems support and guidance. This includes administering enterprise applications, websites, Power BI, and SharePoint sites. What You'll Do
- Manage the department/division's enterprise applications and assist with ongoing assessment of information technology needs.
- Lead division/departmental user requirements gathering for applications; evaluate and prioritize requests for new features and system modifications.
- Administer the Mobile Device Management (MDM) system (Workspace One), setting up devices and distributing apps on city-owned mobile devices.
- Facilitate the implementation of enterprise system replacements, ensuring a smooth transition from legacy applications.
- Oversee maintenance and regular updates of managed applications, observing performance, monitoring interfaces, and resolving issues.
- Develop test scripts for system upgrades and patches and conduct user acceptance testing.
- Provide functional system expertise to configure applications to align with business processes, modifying workflows, reporting, and dashboards.
- Manage application user permissions and role-based security deployment to user groups.
- Coordinate development of user training materials and policies; provide systems training, workshops, and technical briefings.
- Liaise with software vendors or third-party service providers to resolve issues and coordinate upgrades.
- Facilitate management efforts with departmental stakeholders and the Department of Information Technology (IT).
- Collaborate with divisional managers to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Administer SharePoint, managing sites and users, site configuration, custom features, and configuring PowerApps/PowerAutomate.
- Manage and administer Power BI, including updating dashboards, troubleshooting, creating reports, and training users.
- Work closely with the Technology Services Manager and Public Works leadership on ad-hoc technology initiatives.
- Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate flows to streamline business processes.
