The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), State of Washington, is hiring a Business Analyst for the Court Services Division. You will support the Courts of Limited Jurisdiction Case Management replacement project, focusing on financial and accounting systems. Under general supervision, you will work independently with business and technical staff, vendors, and court personnel to elicit and document requirements for application development and configuration.
What You'll Do
- Plan, schedule, and lead the management of requirements for complex court case management financial and accounting solutions.
- Elicit business requirements from internal and external subject matter experts.
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and technical personnel to ensure court case management financial needs are clearly defined and translated into technical solutions.
- Translate business requirements into user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Develop and maintain requirements documentation and requirements traceability matrices.
- Participate in court case management accounting and revenue development projects with courts, justice partners, and peers.
- Analyze requirements for completeness and testability and review test results to confirm acceptance criteria are met.
- Provide consultation to project stakeholders.
- Conduct intensive, in-depth systems analysis for new or enhanced small to large, highly complex applications and systems.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical or business discipline with one (1) year of direct experience as a business analyst and/or court user subject matter expert performing business analysis functions.
- OR Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical or business discipline AND four (4) years of information technology experience including direct business analyst or court SME experience.
- OR Associate's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical or business discipline AND six (6) years of information technology experience including direct business analyst or court SME experience.
- OR Eight (8) years of information technology experience which includes three (3) years of direct business analyst or court SME experience.
- Relevant IT experience includes systems and software requirements development and management, software or systems development following the software development lifecycle, and project management practices.
Nice to Have
- Court accounting or financial experience, or similar.
Team & Environment
You will report to the Court Business Supervisor in the Court Services Division.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary Range: $84,984 - $111,504 per year (DOQ).

This is a hybrid position based in Olympia, Washington.
