NCS is looking for a Biostatistician to play a pivotal role in advancing our Division’s research and strategic priorities. You will collaborate with surgical Research Leads to design clinical registries enabling AI applications and population health insights. Your work will also involve integrating genomic data with surgical findings to translate research into broader health strategies, directly impacting surgical care delivery and system planning.
What You'll Do
- Collect data from various sources and organize it for analysis.
- Collaborate with Division Research Leads to provide statistical and data analytics expertise across clinical and translational research projects.
- Oversee the design and development of a Health Data Registry by defining and examining outcomes of high-complexity surgeries through surgical databases and electronic health records.
- Develop programs and strategies in preparation for a capitation financial healthcare financing model.
- Perform statistical and data analysis techniques to generate insights that guide decision-making.
- Develop Health Services Research in Surgery by building a surgical population health database and operationalizing the systemic implementation of PROMs using AI.
- Produce reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Economics, Health Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Science, or a relevant field.
- Experience in coding with Python, R, or SPSS.
- Experience with database design and build, as well as bioinformatics and data registries development.
- Passion for clinical and health service research to bring about positive patient impact.
- Organized, meticulous, and able to work independently and in a team.
- A fast learner and good team player.
- Ability to work independently and interactively in a team setting, with excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic and a keen interest in learning on the job.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of statistical software (SAS, STATA, R, SPSS).
- Knowledge of health economic modelling and machine learning.
