Orca Bio is hiring a Bioinformatics Intern for the summer to join the bioinformatics team. You will complete a self-contained computational genomics project supporting cancer immunotherapeutics and pangenome analysis. This role provides advanced experience developing analytic workflows and interrogating large-scale human genomic datasets, along with professional development opportunities.
What You'll Do
- Complete a self-contained computational genomics project supporting ongoing research in cancer immunotherapeutics and pangenome analysis.
- Develop analytic workflows and interrogate large-scale human genomic datasets.
- Meet weekly with a mentor to review progress and goals.
- Attend regular group meetings.
- Present an end-of-summer research seminar.
What We're Looking For
- Must be working towards a PhD in Informatics or a related computational field.
- Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Must possess strong analytical and communication skills.
- Must be proficient with command-line tools and high-level programming languages such as Python and R.
- Must have experience developing bioinformatics workflows and processing genomic data.
Nice to Have
- Experience with long-read sequencing data and pangenome analysis is strongly preferred.
