GE HealthCare is seeking a Biomedical Technician 1 to join our service team in the Richmond, VA area. In this role, you will be the front line for maintaining and repairing our customers' biomedical equipment, ensuring operational excellence and patient safety.
What You'll Do
- Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, and perform planned maintenance and safety inspections.
- Assist more experienced technicians on basic and complex repair resolutions.
- Effectively communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues.
- Follow GE policies, hospital protocols, and complete all necessary documentation.
- Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
- Support contract fulfillment and business objectives as instructed.
- Work as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all assigned accounts.
- When trained, participate in an on-call rotation.
- Document all repair actions and submit reports according to schedule.
- Ensure proper care, calibration, and maintenance of spares, tools, and test equipment.
- Enhance technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures for medical equipment.
- Utilize manuals, tech support, and online resources to resolve questions during service.
- Meet all Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety, and other regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in a formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship, Apprenticeship, or Military Externship program; OR a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT, or mechanical equipment.
- Analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers clearly.
- Willingness to be available 'after hours' or work a rotating On-Call schedule, including weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain it.
- Ability to comply with GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test.
- Ability to comply with all customer access policies, including providing proof of required immunizations and undergoing additional screenings.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
