Role Overview
This position involves servicing and maintaining medical equipment at hospitals and clinics located between Des Moines and Iowa City. The technician ensures devices are functioning correctly, safely, and in alignment with regulatory standards, directly contributing to effective clinical operations and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, calibrate, and repair a wide range of medical devices to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Accurately complete service documentation and data entry to support billing accuracy and regulatory requirements.
- Engage with clinical staff to discuss equipment functionality, features, and proper use.
- Deliver technical training to team members on equipment operation, preventive maintenance, repair protocols, and quality assurance practices, including ISO standards.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or biomedical equipment technology; or equivalent military training or CBET certification.
- Proven ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on general medical equipment or specialized systems such as anesthesia, imaging, respiratory devices, sterilizers, or network-connected devices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internal systems.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to travel as needed and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency on-call shifts.
- Physical capability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform tasks involving bending, climbing, crouching, and prolonged standing or walking.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role covering locations between Des Moines and Iowa City. Technicians typically work a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, with flexibility required to meet operational demands, including off-hours and emergency response.
