What You'll Do
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibration, and repairs on a range of medical devices used in hospitals and clinics. Ensure all equipment functions according to manufacturer and regulatory standards, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous patient care. Accurately document service activities through reports and digital records to support billing and compliance requirements.
Engage with clinical personnel to explain equipment capabilities and performance. Share technical knowledge by training team members in proper equipment handling, maintenance protocols, and quality assurance practices. Support compliance with safety and quality standards, including documentation aligned with ISO guidelines.
Requirements
- Associate degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or biomedical equipment technology, or equivalent military training
- CBET certification or demonstrated proficiency in biomedical equipment repair
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical devices, particularly in anesthesia, imaging, respiratory, sterilization, or network-connected systems
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and repair techniques
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and a safe driving history
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
- Capacity to work in varied physical positions—bending, climbing, standing—for extended durations
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency shifts as needed
- Willingness to travel regularly within the Des Moines to Iowa City corridor
