Create and manage 3D BIM models for rail systems, stations, and associated infrastructure.. Generate 2D CAD drawings and detailed design documentation aligned with U.S. and Nordics rail standards.. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including survey, architecture, utilities, civil, structural, and MEP disciplines.. Ensure design accuracy, model integrity, and adherence to project-specific BIM protocols.. Support design validation, clash detection, and stakeholder presentations through modeling and visualization.. Maintain consistent model updates and synchronization on cloud-based collaboration environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage 3D BIM models for rail infrastructure using tools such as Microstation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail, and Navisworks.
  • Produce 2D technical drawings and design documentation in line with applicable rail standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with survey, architectural, utility, civil, structural, and MEP teams to resolve design conflicts and maintain model accuracy.
  • Implement and uphold BIM Execution Plans and project-specific modeling procedures.
  • Conduct model validation, clash detection, and quality assurance checks using Navisworks or equivalent software.
  • Support design reviews and generate visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with rail industry codes, client specifications, and BIM modeling standards.
  • Maintain daily synchronization of models on cloud platforms for team access, review, and markup.
  • Deliver modeling outputs on schedule and provide progress updates to the BIM Lead or Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in BIM and CAD design for rail or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRail, and BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks.
  • Experience using cloud-based collaboration platforms like Projectwise, BIM 360, or ACC.
  • Familiarity with processing and integrating Lidar and point cloud data into BIM workflows.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Nordics rail standards such as TRVINFRA or European Norms.
  • Certification and hands-on experience with Microstation and Open Building Designer for structural modeling.
  • Certification and experience in OpenRail or Civil 3D for transportation infrastructure design.
  • Proficiency in Navisworks or iModel for model coordination and review.
  • Experience with Bentley Infrastructure Cloud or ACC platforms.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
  • Training or certification in BIM Level 2 or ISO 19650 standards.
