Washington University in St Louis is looking for a Billing/Scheduling Associate II to provide remote support for our Ophthalmology department. In this role, you will obtain insurance information, counsel patients on financial assistance over the phone, and schedule and register patients without direct patient contact, ensuring smooth clinical operations.
What You'll Do
- Obtain insurance information from patients and counsel on alternative ways for financial assistance.
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to assist with scheduling urgent or referred patient calls and requests.
- Provide patient scheduling services, including collecting demographics and completing insurance registration.
- Review schedules for new patients and make updates when necessary.
- Call patients with appointment time reminders and obtain insurance information and referral forms.
- Process internal physician referrals for clinical care.
- Explain the billing process to patients and answer incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers.
- Work with others to solve moderately complex problems.
- Explain the billing process to other staff and assist with basic account maintenance activities.
- Assist patients with insurance questions regarding the billing process.
- Assist staff with sending out reminder cards and performing other scheduling duties.
- Work Relatient patient reminder system results and contact patients or make scheduling changes.
- May make daily edits and temporary changes to provider scheduling templates based on physician input.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or a combination of education and/or experience.
- 3 years of relevant experience.

- Skills in Billing Systems, Customer Service, Epic EHR, Financial Information, Insurance, Interpersonal Communication, Medical Office Support, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Organizing, Prioritization, Scheduling, and Third Party Claims.
