NeoGenomics is seeking a Billing Reimbursement Specialist I for a temporary, remote position dedicated to the reconciliation of medical claims to collect revenue. In this role, you will support our purpose-driven mission to save lives by improving patient care, working directly with Third Party insurance bills for laboratory services.
What You'll Do
- Focus efforts on increasing cash and reducing bad debt.
- Understand various NeoGenomics products and tests to present arguments for medical necessity to insurance payers.
- Manage appeals and denials based on payer guidelines in a timely manner.
- Read and understand Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements.
- Evaluate and respond to all aspects of written billing inquiries from patients or their representatives.
- Review and work various reports, including aging reports.
- Understand and interpret advice/remark codes from payers.
- Perform data entry, correct payer assignment, verify insurance eligibility, and review/update patient demographics for accuracy.
- Investigate all denied services to determine the reason and take appropriate action.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma at minimum.
- 1 year of experience in Accounts Receivable, Billing, insurance, or healthcare.
- Working knowledge of coding systems: CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS, and their associated coverage policies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, the Inter and Intranet, and other necessary software.
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience with medical billing and reimbursement.
Nice to Have
- A background in Laboratory insurance billing.
