Jurupa Unified is looking for a Bilingual Language Tutor to support school-based instructional personnel and the needs of our students. Our district believes that with a positive mindset, every child can succeed, and we provide an array of opportunities grounded in research and science. In this role, you will assist a certificated professional by performing tasks that support the bilingual instructional and social-emotional development of assigned students.
What You'll Do
- Assist in providing bilingual assistance to individual students or small groups under the supervision of a certificated professional.
- Perform verbal and written translation.
- Organize, prepare, duplicate, and work with materials unique to the bilingual program.
- Perform routine clerical and record-keeping activities such as taking roll, filling out forms, and correcting papers.
- Set up and operate audio-visual equipment.
- Help screen potential students for the bilingual program.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly room environment.
- Assist in the preparation of bilingual instructional and training materials.
What We're Looking For
- Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English and another language (generally Spanish).
- Thorough knowledge of the cultural background of the students involved.
- Ability to read, write, and compute at the eighth grade level in both languages.
- Prior experience working with children and/or adolescents.
