About the Role

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) is hiring a Senior Project Manager to support our mission by bringing key organizational initiatives to life. You will report to the Senior Director and manage a portfolio of medium to large-scale projects, focusing on cross-functional coordination, budget monitoring, and resource tracking to advance our strategic priorities.

What You'll Do

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and manage a portfolio of new and existing projects, including developing, controlling, and directing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Follow the full project lifecycle from intake and discovery to defining scope, scheduling, and carrying projects through to completion.
  • Monitor and control project progress, making necessary adjustments to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure all deliverables are completed, accepted, and properly documented.
  • Draft reports for senior leadership and model collaborative leadership to achieve organizational goals.
  • Manage projects through evaluation by gathering data for stakeholders and offering actionable recommendations.
  • Outline and manage stakeholder engagement, disseminating information on progress, issues, and decisions.
  • Track key performance metrics for each project, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Identify and manage potential project risks.
  • Regularly review and recommend improvements to the overall project management program and planning processes.
  • Partner with and co-manage cross-functional teams to complete assigned projects.
  • Co-design methodologies, work plans, and processes for specific initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings, guide departments, and gather data to ensure timely completion of milestones.
  • Manage day-to-day project operations, identify issues, and propose solutions.
  • Track key metrics focused on strategic priorities.
  • Co-manage partnerships with the Senior Director to achieve project goals.
  • Recruit, train, retain, and cultivate the professional development of direct reports.
  • Create a dynamic, supportive, and effective team that impacts BBBSA and its national network.
  • Lead and manage resources (people and capital) to cultivate positive, measurable success.
  • Monitor progress against performance targets and implement countermeasures as needed.
  • Provide consistent follow-up on assigned projects and post-meeting actions.
  • Cultivate an environment where all team members feel valued, included, and empowered.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree or related educational/professional certification equivalency; in lieu of a degree, demonstrated, proven years of related work experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of professional leadership experience in youth development, education, or a nonprofit environment preferred, or equivalent corporate project management leadership.
  • Advanced project management experience and capabilities.
  • Proven ease in leading cross-functional teams and consistently meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High skill in project management, process/system development, and creating effective implementation strategies.
  • Prior experience working in a Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Change management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior customer service skills, including active listening, problem diagnosis, priority setting, and managing complex issues to resolution.
  • A highly organized approach with the ability to set and manage priorities.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change.

Nice to Have

  • Project Management Certification.

Team & Environment

This role reports to the Senior Director and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the organization.

Work Mode

This position is open to candidates located anywhere in the Continental United States.
