About the Role

BESIX Group is seeking a BESIX Plant Manager to act as the functional lead for managing all plant and machinery on a significant marine construction project in Mozambique, involving a jetty and marine offloading facility. You will be responsible for applying and upholding company systems and best practices to achieve project and organizational goals.

What You'll Do

  • Be the functional lead for the management of all project equipment, plant, and machinery.
  • Take responsibility for the mechanics, lubrication, maintenance control, and fuel for all site equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Manager to monitor work planning and implement corrective measures related to equipment.
  • Develop the plant department organizational chart, defining roles, authorities, and responsibilities up to the foreman level.
  • Supervise all services inherent to the project's equipment.
  • Interact with production, planning, and commercial teams to identify needs and propose technical solutions and execution methods.
  • Observe and ensure compliance of on-site equipment with applicable safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct field inspections of equipment.
  • Ensure accurate flow of field information so that daily production, allocated resources, and any issues are reflected in reports.
  • Define and request allocation of equipment necessary for the works.
  • Liaise with the Employer's and Engineer’s supervision on all equipment-related matters.
  • Apply effective management of norms, procedures, regulations, and established policies.
  • Ensure compliance with the project's Quality and HSE Plans.

What We're Looking For

  • A mechanical or electro-mechanical degree (e.g., specialized mechanic or mechanical engineer).
  • At least 10 years of experience on similar jobs.
  • Proven experience as a Plant or Workshop Manager on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong experience in both the mechanical and managerial aspects of the role.
  • Ability to plan and administratively manage equipment maintenance in collaboration with operators and project management.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance software.
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Service-minded attitude and ability to work autonomously.
  • Willingness to work and live in a base camp in a remote area (Afungi, Mozambique) under a 6/3 rotation system.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with marine equipment.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese.

Team & Environment

You will report functionally within the Plant and Equipment department and coordinate directly with the Construction Manager.

This is an onsite position based in Afungi, Mozambique.
