This role supports the administration and design of health and welfare benefits across multiple states and business divisions. The consultant ensures accurate communication of benefit plans to employees, managers, and HR staff while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain benefit plans clearly and accurately to employees and HR professionals
- Administer benefits programs and assist in designing plan updates
- Support compliance efforts, including required filings and disclosures
- Manage appeals and maintain thorough, confidential records
- Collaborate with vendors, carriers, and brokers to resolve issues
- Participate in audits and update Summary Plan Descriptions
- Contribute to benefits-related projects and system-wide improvements
- Conduct root cause analysis as part of a collaborative team
- Handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion
Qualifications
Required: Minimum of two years in benefits program development, analysis, or support. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business or human resources, and professional credentials such as PHR, CEBS, CBP, HIA, or GBA. Project coordination experience, corporate benefits oversight, or experience in healthcare or union environments are advantageous.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position based in either Seattle/Renton, WA, or Los Angeles/Irvine, CA. Employees are expected to work on-site regularly, with the remainder of the week completed remotely.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay ranges from $37.17 to $57.71 per hour in Southern California and Western Washington. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, or bonuses.
