Lead transformative research and strategy in real-world environments where behavioral insight meets social impact. As a Behavioral Research & Strategy Consultant, you’ll conduct immersive fieldwork in communities with limited infrastructure, uncovering the drivers and barriers that shape human behavior. Your work will inform strategies for nonprofits and funders focused on ending poverty and protecting the planet, beginning with a tablet-based education initiative in Malawi.
What You’ll Do
- Design and lead qualitative research using observation, interviews, journey mapping, and co-creation in challenging, low-resource contexts
- Identify core behavioral patterns using structured methodologies such as COM-B, EAST, CBSM, or Fogg
- Translate complex findings into clear, narrative-driven strategies that guide decision-making and inspire action
- Develop practical tools, frameworks, and playbooks that help clients implement change
- Advise organizations on interventions—from messaging and habit formation to service design and organizational shifts
- Build trust with clients through candid dialogue, guiding them through uncertainty and strategic trade-offs
- Collaborate with a small, agile team, contributing to evolving methods and organizational learning
Who You Are
You bring over a decade of hands-on experience in behavior change, with a proven ability to apply theory in unpredictable environments. You remain calm and resourceful when plans shift, and you’re comfortable spending nights in remote villages or urban areas with minimal infrastructure. You thrive on turning ambiguous insights into compelling stories that align teams and prompt action.
You value feedback, see it as essential growth, and contribute openly in a low-ego culture. You’re equally capable of leading and stepping back, and you’re committed to continuous learning—whether through fieldwork, reading, or joining internal discussions like our Book Club.
