Allegheny Health Network is hiring an Athletic Trainer I to join our Sports Medicine team serving the Erie Region. You will be responsible for recognizing, managing, and rehabilitating injuries for athletes, while providing injury prevention techniques and managing daily operations within a school district's athletic medicine program. This role acts as a key point of contact between AHN and the district for all communication regarding injury management.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and manage injuries to determine if a physician referral is necessary.
- Maintain a medical file for each athlete and act as a liaison between the physician, athlete, and athlete's parent.
- Prepare athletes for practice or competition.
- Coordinate communication between school administrators, nurses, counselors, coaches, athletes, and parents to appropriately manage care and return athletes to play.
- Coordinate all communication to return athletes with concussions back to play in full compliance with Pennsylvania State Law.
- Implement treatment and rehabilitation programs under physician supervision and the guidance of senior staff.
- Develop functional training and conditioning programs for injured and non-injured athletes.
- Assist with cleaning the facility nightly and putting equipment back in place.
- Perform data entry and recordkeeping.
- Assist with monitoring supplies for the athletic program.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-1 years of related experience.
- Current state licensure as a certified Athletic Trainer or eligible Temporary Practice Permit.
- National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) certification or temporary license.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years of experience.
- Experience with concussion baseline testing software.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Current state driver’s license.
Team & Environment
You will work independently, but under the direction of Senior Staff, the Sports Medicine Supervisor, and Team physicians.
Work Mode
This position requires onsite work in the Erie Region.
