The University Health Network is seeking an Associate Professor to provide academic leadership in Genetics Technology. You will be responsible for teaching and evaluating students while participating actively in departmental activities at The Michener Institute.
What You'll Do
- Provide academic leadership, foster an effective learning environment, and uphold all professional, provincial, and national standards.
- Utilize innovative teaching techniques to facilitate learning in molecular genetics and some cytogenetics.
- Evaluate student progress and achievement while offering advisement and remedial assistance.
- Liaise with other faculty, staff, and personnel at affiliated clinical sites.
- Participate in internal committees.
What We're Looking For
- MLT with a minimum of six years' experience and in-depth expertise in molecular genetics and cytogenetics.
- Capable of teaching introductory and advanced classes and labs in cytogenetics and some molecular genetics.
- A degree in a related field.
- Certification by, and membership in, relevant professional association(s).
- Licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office, presentation, and curriculum design software.
- Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance documents required upon hire.
Nice to Have
- Experience working or teaching in the field within the last 12 months.
- Training and experience in adult education.
- Skill in various teaching approaches and innovations, including online and hybrid delivery modes.
