Viatris Pharmaceuticals S.L. is looking for an Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison – Pain to serve as a field-based medical affairs professional. In this role, you will engage in non-promotional, scientifically accurate communications with external stakeholders about Viatris assets and related disease states, focusing on the pain therapeutic area. The position requires extensive travel for stakeholder engagement, insight generation, and medical education.
What You'll Do
- Engage in non-promotional, truthful, evidenced-based communications with KOLs/HCPs using approved materials.
- Draft, execute, monitor, and adapt independent US MSL Stakeholder Engagement Plans.
- Receive support and direction for all normal business activities, including travel and congress attendance, from the US Pain MSL Team Lead.
- Provide a monthly written summary of day-to-day activities and achievements.
- Submit expense reports and PTO/vacation requests in a timely manner.
- Document HCP Interactions in VEEVA.
- Respond to Unsolicited Medical Requests (UMRs) with Reactive Medical Communications.
- Identify and communicate internally the activities of rival Medical Affairs organizations.
- Identify and communicate internally unmet medical education needs of target KOLs/HCPs.
- Partner with team leads to develop independent, innovative, non-promotional medical education materials.
- Gather and communicate internally KOL insights related to medical and company objectives.
- Develop and communicate independent Ad Board, Congress, and Customer Insight Reports.
- Staff independent Medical Affairs booths at congresses and conventions.
- Provide training to internal Viatris functions on products and disease states as requested.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD) required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or clinical industry.
- Experience in pain management is required.
- Knowledge of US Pain MSL roles, clinical trials, and relevant therapeutic areas.
- Understanding of applicable SOPs, promotional laws, the PhRMA Code, ACCME Standards, and the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Ability to effectively communicate, develop, and manage collaborative relationships with KOLs, medical professionals, and external groups.
- Strong analytic and organizational skills in managing, interpreting, and presenting clinical data.
- Ability to actively listen for insights and draw implications for Viatris.
- Driven by personal accountability and high levels of performance.
- Ability to set and accomplish compelling goals both individually and in a team.
