The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an Associate Director, Foundations & Trusts to join our U.S. fundraising team. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of U.S.-based foundation partners, stewarding existing relationships and designing strategies to secure sustained and new financial support for the IRC’s vital work.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Co–Senior Director and cross-functional colleagues to identify and advance high-impact foundation partnerships.
- Design and execute comprehensive outreach, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of U.S.-based foundations.
- Proactively identify, qualify, and cultivate new foundation prospects, managing a strong pipeline.
- Establish and implement robust stewardship plans for partners, including clear performance indicators and reporting schedules.
- Engage and support senior IRC leadership and Board members in high-level relationship management.
- Monitor and analyze philanthropic trends to inform prospecting strategies.
- Serve as a trusted internal advisor on foundation partnership strategy, ensuring effective coordination.
- Line-manage and mentor one or more U.S. Foundations & Trusts officers.
- Lead and contribute to special projects and cross-team initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM records to enable effective pipeline management and forecasting.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of progressive frontline fundraising experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in private sector resource development, with specific knowledge of U.S.-based foundations.
Nice to Have
- Proven track record of closing 6-7-figure grants from private institutional donors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for compelling proposals and pitches.
- Proven understanding of foundation and private-sector philanthropy planning and decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and manage a foundation prospect pipeline.
- Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and leading complex relationships.
- Track record of working toward ambitious revenue targets, including forecasting and reporting.
- Strong people skills and positive, collaborative relationship-building; mentoring or management experience.
- Ability to translate organizational strategy into actionable fundraising and partnership plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including interpreting financial data.
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated commitment to international development, human rights, social justice, and U.S. refugee and immigrant communities.
- Experience with CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $110,000 - $131,000
