About the Role

The Boeing Company is looking for an Associate Data Scientist to join the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team. In this GenAI-focused role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of advanced AI, Machine Learning, and Generative AI models, working closely with senior data scientists and cross-functional teams.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the development and deployment of models.
  • Support the design and implementation of pipelines for model fine-tuning and evaluation.
  • Help in developing prompt engineering strategies and embedding techniques.
  • Contribute to the prototyping of applications that address business challenges.
  • Participate in model performance evaluation and assist in bias and fairness assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support model inference and monitoring.
  • Stay updated on AI, ML, and GenAI trends and tools, and share insights with the team.
  • Engage in learning opportunities and mentorship from senior data scientists.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in data science or machine learning.
  • 1+ year of experience programming in Python and familiarity with data engineering workflows like Spark, Airflow, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with platform infrastructure experience: Kubernetes, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code capabilities.

Nice to Have

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience fine-tuning open-source models and integrating APIs from commercial providers.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience in AI ethics and governance in generative models.
  • Experience with data engineering tools like SQL or Spark.

  • Compensation: USD 105,400 - 142,600 (for Ridley Park, PA; Seattle, WA; Arlington, VA; El Segundo, CA) or USD 98,600 - 133,400 (for Berkeley, MO).

This role offers a hybrid work mode and is open to candidates in multiple locations.
