Milliman IntelliScript seeks an Associate Actuary to join its Seattle Health Practice. You'll apply creative actuarial capabilities to analyze healthcare data, manage projects, and lead a team of analysts. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional with strong communication skills and a deep understanding of the US healthcare system.
What You'll Do
- Perform analysis of healthcare data.
- Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience.
- Manage projects through completion within an expected budget.
- Supervise actuarial students in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects.
- Develop the ability to manage client relationships.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
- ASA designation.
- Four or more years of healthcare actuarial experience.
- Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Strong understanding of the US healthcare system.
- Proficiency with Excel.
- Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R.
- Excellent communication both verbal and written.
- Ability to work both independently and in team environments.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.
Nice to Have
- Experience in Medicaid rate-setting.
- Experience in Reserving and year-end statutory financials (“blue” and “orange” blanks).
- Experience in ACA pricing/rate filing.
- Experience in Medicare Advantage, especially bid development and understanding of revenue mechanisms (e.g., risk scores, star ratings).
- Experience in Value-based provider contracting.
- Experience in Employer stop-loss and/or reinsurance pricing.
- Ability to successfully generate new business with both new and existing clients.

- Compensation: Overall range $88,800 - $208,380. For candidates in AK, CA, CT, IL, MD, MA, NJ, PA, VA, WA, DC: $102,120 - $184,460 (<10 yrs exp); $115,460 - $208,380 (>10 yrs exp). For other states: $88,800 - $160,400 (<10 yrs exp); $100,400 - $181,200 (>10 yrs exp).
