American College of Education is looking for an Assistant Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, and Policy to serve as a key leader dedicated to institutional integrity and continuous improvement. In this role, you will provide strategic direction to ensure compliance with all regulations and foster a culture of transparency across the college.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic leadership to ensure institutional compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Lead efforts to align college policies and procedures with evolving regulatory expectations and best practices.
- Work closely with leaders across Academic Affairs, Marketing, Finance, IT, and Human Resources to develop and sustain compliance frameworks.
- Support the entire lifecycle of academic, operational, and regulatory policies.
- Manage compliance-sensitive processes, including marketing reviews and contract workflows.
- Supervise Regulatory & Compliance Specialists.
- Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer and Provost to ensure policies meet internal and external standards.
- Liaise with legal counsel on matters of compliance, policy interpretation, risk management, and contract review.
- Maintain expert knowledge of federal, state, and local education laws, including NC-SARA, BPE, HLC, and state licensure.
- Monitor institutional adherence to all regulatory, accreditation, and policy standards.
- Oversee the development, review, and dissemination of all student-impacting policies.
- Lead the centralization and lifecycle management of policies using systems such as SharePoint and Wrike.
- Develop and maintain standardized templates for policies and contracts.
- Coordinate input from subject matter experts on evolving policy areas.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with state regulatory officials.
- Secure and maintain operating and degree-granting authority across states.
- Manage institutional interactions with state boards of higher education.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of teacher and principal licensure requirements across applicable states.
- Serve on key committees, advising on regulatory and compliance matters.
- Collaborate on program development and expansion to ensure compliance.
- Provide guidance on the development of academic catalogs, enrollment documents, and marketing materials.
- Oversee regulatory and legal review processes for all marketing and advertising content.
- Offer clear compliance guidance to Enrollment Services on program promotion.
- Advise Admissions and Registration personnel on policy application for unique student situations.
- Coordinate with the internal training team to develop staff training on marketing compliance and regulatory decision-making.
- Establish and enforce contract routing protocols involving legal, IT, academic, HR, and financial stakeholders.
- Implement a documented framework for version control and renewal tracking for contracts and policies.
- Conduct regular audits of student, faculty, and institutional files to ensure documentation compliance.
- Ensure all regulatory reports are prepared accurately and submitted on time.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on compliance, risk management, and policy strategy.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong customer service orientation.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in private higher education compliance, regulatory affairs, legal affairs, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with regional accreditation and government regulatory processes.
- In-depth understanding of higher education regulatory frameworks, accreditation, and federal/state compliance mandates.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Skilled in strategic planning, risk analysis, and institutional policy development.
- Demonstrates self-reliance, a positive attitude, and excellent time management.
- Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with others.

- Experience with various state licenses, such as secretary of state, taxation, labor, lender, and debt collection preferred.
