BASF is looking for an Assistant Research Scientist to join our team. In this laboratory-based role, you will synthesize research chemicals with full adherence to all internal rules and regulations, contributing to our research objectives with precision and safety.
What You'll Do
- Ensure compliance with all safety norms, manuals, SOPs, and Responsible Care guidelines.
- Review MSDS for all reagents and solvents, discussing potential safety hazards with your Manager.
- Demonstrate proactive safe behavior and actively promote a strong safety culture.
- Report unsafe conditions to increase awareness and maintain good housekeeping of fume hoods.
- Discuss and report any safety-related issues or incidents immediately with your Manager.
- Comply with corrective actions outlined in safety incident reports.
- Act as a First Aider in the Emergency Response Team for the 4th Floor, IC-Mumbai.
- Serve as a Superuser for specific instruments, managing maintenance and training new users.
- Propose synthetic schemes based on literature and patent searches, selecting the best path in discussion with your supervisor.
- Plan and implement chemical reactions.
- Maintain precise Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) documentation and lab notebooks as per agreed protocols.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders including Managers, Team Leads, Analytical teams, and Procurement to resolve issues.
- Ensure confidentiality of all research activities.
- Support the maintenance of instruments and chemical inventory.
- Take on at least one chemist responsibility, such as managing instruments, inventory, or other lab activities as defined in your Target Agreement.
- Mentor intern(s) and monitor their work as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A Master of Science (M. Sc.) in Organic Chemistry or a related area.
