About the Role

Allegheny Health Network is hiring an Assistant Nurse Manager to manage, supervise, and coordinate the daily operations of the ICU department at Forbes Hospital. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, you will provide clinical and administrative leadership while contributing to strategic planning and goal attainment for the unit.

What You'll Do

  • Role model the mission, vision, and values of the organization and demonstrate professional behavior.
  • Serve as a change agent and role model to assist staff in accepting necessary changes.
  • Conduct monthly unit conferences and complete annual performance appraisals for delegated associates.
  • Promote unit-based shared governance, professional development plans, and nursing specialty certification.
  • Promote employee engagement through leadership rounding.
  • Identify, plan, and implement activities to ensure patient care meets professional standards, safety goals, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor departmental performance in quality and patient safety goals, developing action plans for unmet goals.
  • Participate in regulatory readiness and operational excellence projects.
  • Work collaboratively to meet organizational goals for patient experience, investigate concerns, and round daily to assess patient/family needs.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the financial plan, demonstrating fiscal stewardship.
  • Maintain FTE and Goods/Services within budget, complete variance reports, and manage a daily productivity tracker.
  • Foster staff development through coaching, mentoring, and creating a learning environment.
  • Assure appropriate orientation, onboarding, education, and professional development for personnel.
  • Encourage staff membership on councils and attendance at educational programs.
  • Conduct quarterly check-ins with assigned staff and identify one area for self-improvement annually.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire or transfer.
  • 1 year of demonstrated clinical leadership experience.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • CPR certification.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification.

This role provides leadership under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
