Silgan Plastics Corporation is hiring a Utility Technician to ensure the efficiency and safety of our plastics manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for material handling, quality verification, and equipment maintenance on the production floor.

What You'll Do

• Promote a safe working environment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Verify daily resin and colorant accuracy against production sheets, documenting on the OEE form.
• Complete detailed daily scrap reports tracking material usage and waste.
• Ensure regrind is properly utilized and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Set up, calibrate, and change formulas on material blenders.
• Evaluate colorant usage, perform visual quality checks, and mix color standards.
• Transport materials to and from the warehouse, scanning all items.
• Perform full line clearances and clean entire material systems after production runs.
• Maintain cleanliness around grinders, blenders, and day bins, removing dust and debris.
• Communicate changes in regrind percentages or excess accumulation to machine operators.
• Check and empty cyclone dust collection bags on each production line.
• Clean vacuum pump filters daily.
• Safely operate the railcar unloading system, cleaning any spills immediately.
• Identify, weigh, and properly dispose of material chunks from production lines.
• Communicate production floor status and upcoming changes to the oncoming shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

What We're Looking For

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• Ability for frequent climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying 50lbs up ladders and onto platforms.
• Cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.

Nice to Have

• Mechanical aptitude.

Work Mode

This role works onsite at our manufacturing facility.
