BASF is seeking an Assistant Manager - Sales to achieve the sales and profit targets for our Engineering Plastics business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for business development, customer management, market intelligence, and strategic implementation. You will be based at our Emporium office in Bangkok.
What You'll Do
- Achieve the Engineering Plastics business unit’s targets for sales performance and profit.
- Support business development and customer management by initiating contacts with existing and new potential customers.
- Provide input for account plans, pricing strategy, and market intelligence.
- Ensure appropriate technical support for responsible customers.
- Conduct and develop the EP business according to regional strategy and objectives.
- Manage existing business and develop new projects in existing and new customers to ensure both volume and margin growth.
- Develop sales plans and secure and expedite orders.
- Supervise and consolidate the sales forecast.
- Represent the plastics team as an account manager, set up meetings, and collaborate with key account managers for business development.
- Identify customer accounts and regularly update account profiles.
- Implement sales and marketing directions according to agreed strategies.
- Set up a customer long-term pricing strategy and lead price negotiations.
- Scout for new business opportunities in respective sales areas and key accounts and develop business plans.
- Suggest product developments and requirements to Senior Manager or Business Management and support its implementation.
- Conduct field visits, seminars, presentations, and attend to customers’ inquiries.
- Provide prompt responses related to quality, technical applications, inquiries, and other related issues; conduct customers’ assessments and analyses.
- Align with Regional and key functions to address customers’ issues properly.
- Support regular customer interactions across different hierarchies.
- Monitor the growth of customers’ business and coordinate with credit control to make appropriate credit recommendations.
- Follow-up on payment collections and ensure on-time payment from customers.
- Implement pricing policy and support product launch processes.
- Monitor and review marketing and promotion campaign execution.
- Support public relations and marketing communication campaigns for related business.
- Conduct studies and analysis on market trends, competitors, product applications and technology, and service needs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 3-5 years of technical sales experience.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering plastics, including technical expertise and relevant applications.
- Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English, along with computer literacy.
Nice to Have
- Experience in engineering plastics, sales, market or application development, or the automotive industry.
- Experience in tooling, plastics compounding, and application development.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based at our Emporium office in Bangkok.
