Eastern Michigan University is looking for an Assistant Director to supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of our afterschool outreach programs. You will assist the Director in developing and planning programs for Bright Futures, working directly with school personnel, parents, and community partners.
What You'll Do
- Direct and coordinate the implementation of Bright Futures programs.
- Support the Director in developing and planning program content.
- Supervise employees, students, interns, contractors, and volunteers providing educational programs both afterschool and in summer sessions.
- Assist with program evaluation and grant-writing for resource development.
- Act as a liaison with principals, central office staff, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Act as a liaison with parents of students participating in or being recruited for programs.
- Act as a liaison with EMU staff, faculty, and students.
- Assist with professional development for the Bright Futures program.
- Manage the recruitment and enrollment process of students into the programs.
- Supervise and monitor record keeping and documentation.
- Work with the Director and Administrative Associate to prepare budget projections and staffing plans.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with collaborating community organizations, agencies, and school district personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- Knowledge of K-12 curriculum and learning objectives.
- Knowledge of afterschool enrichment programs.
- Experience training and supervising teachers, student teachers, tutors, interns, and/or contractors.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all school systems personnel.
Nice to Have
- A valid Michigan teaching certification.
- A Master's degree associated with positive youth development.
- A minimum of two years of experience managing a K-12 after school enrichment program.
- Experience in the development and implementation of new or innovative programs.
- Experience writing, implementing, and managing grants.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Director of the Bright Futures Program.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based at Eastern Michigan University's Main Campus.
