Sixth Street is seeking a full-time Asset Based Finance Analyst or Associate in New York. In this role on the Asset Based Finance team, you will analyze, underwrite, and execute structured finance transactions across asset classes, with a focus on residential whole loans.
What You'll Do
- Conduct due diligence on investment opportunities, including in-depth analysis on portfolios of residential assets, asset-based lending opportunities, and specialty finance companies.
- Work with and manage third-party diligence providers to facilitate the review and closing of transactions.
- Evaluate investment opportunities across Non-QM / DSCR, 2nd Liens / HELOCs, MSR, Bridge / RTL, Manufactured Housing, and other residential asset classes.
- Analyze and underwrite potential investments by reviewing historical performance data such as prepayment, default, and recovery data.
- Develop cash flow projection models and perform investment analyses.
- Model underlying asset cash flows and create sensitivity and comparable analyses to assess risk and value.
- Assist in preparing investment committee memos, diligence memos, and other investment analyses.
- Ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of analyses associated with investment decisions.
- Assess non-economic, legal documentation risks and review transaction documentation.
- Monitor positions on an ongoing basis and perform quarterly valuations of investments.
- Interface and negotiate with external counterparties.

Nice to Have
- 1-4 years of Finance or Investment Banking experience within a Structured Finance or Financial Institutions group, or similar buyside experience.
- Prior buyside experience or securitization investment banking experience, with a focus on whole loan trading or warehouse lending.
- Experience underwriting, structuring, and reviewing residential whole loan pools, asset-backed securitizations, and private asset-backed credit facilities.
- Superior valuation, modeling, and Excel skills for evaluating financial assets.
- Strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Keen interest in financial markets and good commercial instincts.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to execute quickly and efficiently with attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfort working in a high-growth, iterative environment.
- Proficiency in Intex, VBA, Collateral Analysis System (CAS), and Snowflake/SQL is preferred but not mandatory.

- Compensation: $110,000 - $200,000 plus an annual discretionary bonus.
