Stanford Health Care was looking for an APP NP II / PA II - Primary Care Los Altos - Part-Time (10-HRS)

Stanford Health Care is hiring a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our Primary Care team in Los Altos. In this 10-hour per week role, you will provide routine care and manage patients with acute and chronic complaints in a primary care setting, collaborating with supervising physicians and following standardized procedures.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns.
  • Obtain complete histories and perform pertinent physical exams, assessing normal and abnormal findings.
  • Perform or request and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated by patient evaluation.
  • Administer, order, furnish, and prescribe medications according to written standardized procedures.
  • Order and collect specimens for laboratory tests, screening procedures, and therapeutic procedures, including blood products.
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations, and nursing services.
  • Perform designated procedures after demonstrated competency.
  • Obtain informed consent as indicated.
  • Initiate arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • As directed by the supervising physician, enroll patients in Investigational Review Board (IRB)-approved studies and order necessary tests and medications.
  • After appropriate training, assist the supervising physician in the operating room.
  • Recognize and consider age-specific needs of patients.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Recognize situations requiring immediate physician attention and initiate life-saving procedures when necessary.
  • Facilitate the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.
  • Facilitate collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide and coordinate patient teaching and counseling.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Graduate of an NP program accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure.
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • NPF - NP Furnishing Number.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification.

Team & Environment

This role functions under the supervision of a physician and in accordance with standardized procedures approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC).

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation is generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position based in our Los Altos location.
