About the Role

Lockheed Martin Canada is seeking a Aircraft Maintenance Support Engineer Senior - Level 3 to play a key role in developing critical documentation for the C-130J program. In this senior position, you will assist the Flight Manuals Lead Writer as a Junior Lead Writer, guiding technical authors in the creation of aircrew flight manuals.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the Flight Manuals Lead Writer as a Junior Lead Writer in the development and authoring of aircrew flight manuals for test and production C-130J aircraft.
  • Lead technical authors in the development and authoring of aircrew flight manuals for complex military and/or civilian aeronautics systems.
  • Assist in improving, evaluating, and developing specifications for activities of flight engineering, navigation, flight safety, crew escape procedures, cargo loading, airfield and air traffic control, radio communications, electronics, and avionics for test and production aircraft.
  • Effectively interact and communicate with customers both foreign and domestic, engineering, flight operations and other organizations to define aircrew flight manual requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Holds at least 5 years of C-130 or similar aircraft systems and operations experience; considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one aircrew position.
  • Holds at least 3 years of Aerospace technical publications, logistics and/or sustainment experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with the analysis and understanding of Engineering drawings/blueprints, Schematics, Acceptance Test Programs (ATPs) and/or other related materials.
  • Thorough knowledge of technical publications or a technical publications authoring background in aircrew flight manual development.
  • Highly proficient in the use of electronic authoring/editing software.
  • Knowledgeable of technical manual formats, requirements, and SGML/XML.
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation, including military specification requirements, logistic support concepts.
  • Able to read/interpret engineering drawings and source data documentation.

Nice to Have

  • Ability to effectively lead technical writers in the development and authoring of aircraft flight manuals.
  • Ability to effectively work with multiple engineering, software, supportability, and logistics disciplines to develop highly accurate technical manuals.
  • Experience in verification and validation of technical publications is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work multiple projects of varied size and scope.
  • Familiar with technical authoring languages and specifications such as XML, SGML, and S1000D specification.
  • Broad experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially MSWord, Arbortext, Adobe, CATIA software tools.
  • Must be highly organized; process and detail oriented.
  • Self starter and able to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
  • Highly self motivated.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
  • Able to think and operate independently with minimal direction.

  • Compensation: $77,700 - $136,965 (annual base salary range for California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC). For most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York: $89,300 - $154,905. For other states, salary range reflects candidate's final work location.

This is a hybrid position based in Marietta, GA.
