About the Role

The Environmental Protection Authority is looking for a fixed-term Advisor to join our Ministerial Services team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing official information and ensuring clear, accurate communication across government. You will support our commitment to transparency and effective public service.

What You'll Do

  • Manage Official Information Act (OIA) requests end-to-end, from scoping and collating information to preparing drafts and meeting statutory timeframes.
  • Draft and review high-quality correspondence and responses.
  • Support the preparation of Written Parliamentary Questions (WPQs), ensuring responses are precise, timely, and politically aware.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders across government, the private sector, and the public.
  • Use workflow systems to manage allocations, track progress, and support reporting.
  • Support process and workflow management, including developing operational processes and continuous improvement.
  • Support the preparation of briefings or reports for Ministers, ensuring information is presented clearly and accurately.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience managing OIA requests end-to-end.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing correspondence.
  • Experience supporting with Written Parliamentary Questions (WPQs).
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders across government, the private sector, and the public.
  • Experience using workflow systems (e.g., Nexus or similar) to manage allocations and track progress.
  • Experience supporting process and workflow management, including developing operational processes.
  • Experience supporting briefings or reports for Ministers.
  • Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective professional relationships.
  • Solid political and legislative understanding.
  • Proven record of earning trust and credibility across an organisation.
  • Proactive attitude, strong organisational skills, and the ability to think critically and navigate complex information.

Technical Stack
