Repwest Insurance, a part of the U-Haul family of companies, is looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Department at Oxford Life. This entry-level role is an opportunity for a new graduate to begin a career in life insurance, determining financial reserves and assessing risk.
What You'll Do
- Determine reserves required on Statutory, GAAP, and Tax bases to support the company's financial position and meet client claims.
- Assess the financial soundness of each line of business using loss recognition testing, gross premium valuations, asset adequacy analyses, and/or experience studies.
- Gather and analyze experience statistics to estimate population mortality, morbidity, lapse, persistency, and maturity rates.
- Collaborate with accountants, compliance officers, marketing representatives, auditors, consultants, and senior management to develop and promote proper reserving for insurance products.
- Apply mathematical techniques and statistical concepts to determine and assess inherent risk.
- Monitor new research and developments in the actuarial field.
- Apply innovative solutions to resolve evolving business problems.
- Explain the risk and limitations of actuarial schemes in detail to a non-actuarial audience.
- Document implemented concepts, methodologies, and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, accounting, or finance.
- Active pursuit of successfully passing Society of Actuaries actuarial exams.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proven multitasking skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent analytical and computational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Have
- 1+ years of relevant actuarial experience in the life insurance industry.
- Success in passing exams towards completion of designation as an Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
