Lead the accounting function in a fast-evolving consulting environment, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable processes. Reporting to the Controller and collaborating with the CFO and FP&A, this role is central to maintaining financial integrity and operational efficiency across multiple entities.
What You'll Do
- Manage key aspects of the monthly close, targeting a 5–7 business day close cycle, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, accruals, allocations, and complex account reconciliations to maintain balance sheet accuracy.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and IFRS 15 for revenue recognition across time-and-materials, fixed-fee, and multi-element service contracts.
- Supervise accounting workflows in Sage Intacct, including revenue posting, fixed assets, prepaids, and multi-entity consolidations.
- Collaborate with FP&A to align actual results with forecasts and improve departmental financial visibility.
- Support technical accounting initiatives, including lease accounting, capitalized costs, and implementation of new standards.
- Lead process automation by integrating Sage Intacct with Planful, Ramp, Ruddr, ADP, and banking systems to reduce manual work.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures for core accounting functions, including cash receipts, expense coding, and sales tax compliance.
- Manage audit coordination, prepare schedules, and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Support tax compliance for federal, state, local, and international filings, including preparation of tax distributions and K-1s.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.
- Supervise and develop junior accounting staff, setting performance goals and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
- Partner with business leaders to improve financial discipline and reporting across departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, particularly revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or multi-entity organizations.
- Proven experience with Sage Intacct, especially in multi-entity and consolidation environments.
- Background in high-growth or private equity-backed firms.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort with financial systems and integrations.
- Strong communication abilities and executive-level presence.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and operational detail.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
