About the Role

Nortal is hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Data team. You will partner closely with Data Engineering and a Product Manager to support reporting and analytics needs across multiple business departments, delivering reliable insights and scalable solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries in BigQuery to extract, transform, and analyze data.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Tableau dashboards and reports for stakeholder use.
  • Support reporting and analytics needs across teams, translating business questions into datasets, metrics, and insights.
  • Contribute to the analytics layer in dbt by creating or adjusting models for reporting.
  • Partner closely with the Data Engineering team, leveraging existing data pipelines and models.
  • Validate data accuracy and integrity through reconciliation, QA checks, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot data and reporting issues, collaborating to identify root causes.
  • Participate in structured requirement gathering, prioritization, and iterative delivery with stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper handling of sensitive data by following security and compliance requirements.
  • Build deeper business context around metrics and reporting definitions to improve analytics delivery.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, or similar role.
  • 3+ years of experience writing and optimizing SQL queries, including performance tuning.
  • 2+ years of experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards for business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data structures.
  • Proven ability to deliver reliable, high-quality reporting in collaboration with business and technical teams.
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses, preferably BigQuery.
  • Working knowledge of DBT, including models, modular transformations, and analytics engineering workflows.
  • Understanding of analytics data modeling concepts (facts/dimensions, star schemas).
  • Ability to work closely with Data Engineers within established pipelines and architectures.
  • Strong data quality practices, including validation, documentation, and QA processes.
  • Comfort handling sensitive data and following security or compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deliver incrementally in a small, fast-moving team.
  • Advanced English Level is required for this role.
