About the Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timely distribution of IRS Form 1098-T to eligible students, supporting both institutional obligations and student tax filing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate student data used for 1098-T form generation
  • Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and reporting deadlines
  • Collaborate with financial and student services departments to resolve discrepancies
  • Process corrections and reissuances of tax forms as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of form distributions and responses
  • Respond to inquiries from students and families regarding 1098-T details
  • Support year-end reporting cycles with precision and timeliness
  • Identify and escalate data inconsistencies affecting tax reporting
  • Assist in auditing processes related to tax documentation
  • Stay current with changes in tax code impacting 1098-T reporting
  • Prepare reports for internal stakeholders on form status and metrics
  • Troubleshoot system-generated errors in tax data processing
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive financial and personal information
  • Follow established protocols for data privacy and institutional compliance
  • Coordinate with external vendors involved in form distribution
  • Participate in training and process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and workflow changes
  • Support organizational readiness for annual 1098-T filing season
  • Verify enrollment and payment data tied to tax reporting
  • Communicate proactively about potential delays or issues
  • Use internal systems to track form completion and delivery
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects during peak periods
  • Ensure consistency across multiple campuses or locations
  • Apply attention to detail in high-volume data environments
  • Support accurate tax reporting for international and domestic students

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience preparing 1098-T forms
  • Background in accounting or tax processing
  • Experience in higher education administration
  • Knowledge of IRS e-file submission processes
  • Familiarity with financial aid data systems
