Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a WordPress Developer to build and enhance high-impact digital products that reach millions of users. You will be responsible for developing new features, improving existing code, and maintaining the technical quality of the platform.
What You'll Do
- Develop, test, and maintain WordPress plugins, themes, and infrastructure.
- Triage bugs and implement enhancements to existing features using GitHub.
- Scope, write, and test new product features and addons with a focus on quality and performance.
- Refactor legacy code with attention to backward compatibility and platform stability.
- Collaborate with team members, providing peer code reviews and constructive feedback.
- Communicate effectively with team members using chat, audio, and video tools to support project goals.
- Continuously improve development processes and adhere to coding standards and best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience with WordPress plugin development, architecture, and coding standards.
- Advanced proficiency in PHP and MySQL, including modern PHP practices (OOP, namespacing, traits, interfaces, autoloading).
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript (vanilla JS, jQuery, ES6) and experience with front-end development.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Gulp and Webpack, and package managers like Composer and NPM.
- Experience working with third-party APIs (Stripe, Zapier, Drip, etc.).
- Competent in Git/GitHub version control.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to simplify complex solutions.
- Availability to participate in audio/video meetings during 9 am - 5 pm EST.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in remote or freelance roles.
- Knowledge of JS frameworks like VueJS or React.
- Knowledge of e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads).
- Knowledge of DevOps/infrastructure management.
