Lead the development of custom WordPress platforms from design through deployment, crafting clean, efficient code that aligns with business goals and technical best practices. In this role, you'll take ownership of full-stack implementation, transforming Figma designs into responsive, accessible web experiences built from the ground up—without reliance on page builders or pre-made templates.
What You'll Do
- Lead code reviews and promote consistent coding standards across the team
- Translate client objectives into technical solutions that deliver measurable results
- Estimate and plan complex WordPress and e-commerce projects
- Develop custom themes and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and resolve issues through proactive testing
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and backend developers to bridge design and functionality
- Optimize websites for speed, scalability, and search engine visibility
- Apply ADA compliance standards and SEO fundamentals in all deliverables
- Leverage Advanced Custom Fields and modern development tools to streamline workflows
What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
- Proven experience building custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
- Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket for version control
- Solid understanding of WordPress core architecture
- Experience working with MySQL databases
- Skill in writing preprocessors like SASS, SCSS, or LESS
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and maintain high standards
- Commitment to continuous learning and self-directed growth
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Participation in pre-sales activities such as scoping or RFP responses
- Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks including React or Angular
- Experience with vanilla.js, ES6+, and Gutenberg block development
- Familiarity with Laravel, CodeIgniter, or NodeJS
- Use of task runners (Gulp, Grunt, Webpack) and compilers like Babel
- Background in testing methodologies
- At least three years in an agency environment
