Operate and maintain critical wastewater treatment systems at an industrial manufacturing facility, ensuring all processes meet regulatory discharge requirements. This position requires consistent oversight during scheduled shifts, including weekday on-site operations and limited weekend remote monitoring.
What You'll Do
Monitor and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow into the treatment system. Perform routine sampling and laboratory analysis to assess chemical residuals, turbidity, and pressure levels, using results to adjust processes and maintain compliance. Document all operational data accurately and in a timely manner.
Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, oil changes, greasing bearings, and valve exercises. Assist with minor repairs and installations involving chemical pumps, PVC piping, check valves, and AOD pumps. Report and resolve equipment issues promptly, coordinating with third-party vendors when necessary.
Collaborate with plant operators and management teams to optimize treatment performance. Communicate regularly with both client personnel and internal supervisors to address concerns, implement improvements, and ensure uninterrupted plant coverage. Escalate complex or unusual situations according to established protocols.
Requirements
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts with occasional overtime based on operational needs
- Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and performing physical tasks including climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Experience climbing vertical ladders up to 30 feet and safely using extension ladders daily
- Comfortable maneuvering in confined spaces and operating industrial equipment such as forklifts
- Proficient in following safety procedures and maintaining compliance with environmental regulations
- Skilled in interpreting lab data and making process adjustments to correct deviations
- Strong recordkeeping habits with attention to detail in documenting maintenance and test results
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives and covering absences as needed
