Hilo by Aktiia is hiring a VP of Software Engineering to own all software, data, and infrastructure components that power our ecosystem. Your mission is to build a world-class, scalable, and secure platform that enables efficient growth across markets through automation, intelligent systems, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Define and own the software and data strategy to support business growth and multi-market operations.
- Translate company goals into a clear technical roadmap with measurable KPIs such as uptime, latency, and deployment frequency.
- Build a future-proof architecture integrating mobile, e-commerce, CRM, and analytics into a unified system.
- Champion AI-driven operations and ensure scalable, cost-efficient technology development.
- Oversee all software technology including app development, backend, data infrastructure, website (Shopify e-commerce stack), and CRM integrations.
- Build and maintain a resilient, multilingual, multi-market infrastructure ensuring consistent performance across regions.
- Establish best practices in CI/CD, testing, versioning, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance, data protection, and information security across all systems, working closely with the Quality & Regulatory team.
- Design and implement a centralized data infrastructure that unifies data flows from app, CRM, marketing, and e-commerce systems.
- Build scalable data pipelines and analytics foundations enabling real-time decision-making.
- Oversee data governance and quality assurance, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and usability.
- Lead and develop the 15-person engineering team in Serbia through building trust, clarity, and motivation.
- Manage external partners and freelancers across disciplines.
- Create a performance-driven culture based on clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure delivery against key milestones, system uptime, and quality KPIs.
- Partner with product, design, and growth teams to collaboratively translate business goals into technical reality.
- Embed automation into all workflows from deployment to monitoring to customer data processes.
- Identify and implement AI tools to enhance scalability, predictive capabilities, and operational speed.
- Ensure growth through intelligence, not headcount, scaling smartly through systems and technology.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience defining and owning software and data strategy for scaling multi-market operations.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business goals into technical roadmaps with measurable KPIs.
- Expertise in building integrated architectures for mobile, e-commerce, CRM, and analytics environments.
- Strong background in establishing CI/CD, testing, and documentation best practices.
- Deep knowledge of compliance, data protection, and information security standards.
- Experience designing centralized data infrastructures and scalable data pipelines.
- A track record of leading and developing engineering teams, including managing external partners.
- Ability to foster a performance-driven culture of clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Skill in embedding automation and AI tools to enhance operational speed and scalability.
