Pinal County Sheriff's Office is hiring a Volunteer - Citizens on Patrol

About the Role

Pinal County is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as Citizens on Patrol within the Sheriff's Office. This non-compensated position supports law enforcement through active community presence, observation, and reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Perform active neighborhood patrols.
  • Patrol as a one or two-person unit as assigned.
  • Provide traffic control as necessary.
  • Transport victims, witnesses, or citizens as needed.
  • Assist in Agency Response and large-scale emergency or disaster situations as requested.
  • Create a visible presence to deter crime.
  • Observe, record, and report suspicious activities.
  • Assure personal and public safety at all times.
  • Maintain monthly online time records.
  • Participate in fairs, educational opportunities, community events, fundraisers, public relations, recruitment efforts, and partnerships with other agencies as approved.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • United States citizen or legal resident.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Have transportation to and from the post of duty.
  • Possess proof of current auto insurance at all times.
  • Successfully pass and complete background examination and Truth Verification technology.
  • Complete oral interviews.
  • Submit certified driving record.
  • Complete COP Academy.
  • Minimum commitment of 16 hours per month for 1 year.

Team & Environment

You will serve under the supervision of the COP Unit Manager, COP Program Director, and PCSO area commander. We cultivate a positive work environment, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively to support County goals.

This is an onsite volunteer position in Pinal County, AZ.
