We are seeking a dedicated Visual Arts Teacher to join our Nord Anglia Education school community in Houston, Texas. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality Visual Arts instruction that sets ambitious expectations and supports all learners in achieving strong academic outcomes. You will create a safe, respectful, and engaging environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
What You'll Do
- Set ambitious expectations for all students and take responsibility for their academic progress in Visual Arts.
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote creativity, artistic exploration, and higher-order thinking.
- Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment rooted in high standards of behavior and mutual respect.
- Use assessment data to monitor learning, adjust instruction, differentiate support, and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
- Communicate regularly with parents and colleagues regarding student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
- Participate actively in professional learning, reflect on teaching practice, and implement strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, exhibitions, school events, and wider Nord Anglia Education initiatives, fostering collaboration and global citizenship.
- Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values in all interactions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Visual Arts or a related field.
- Teaching certification or equivalent professional training.
- Strong pedagogical understanding of Visual Arts instruction, assessment, and differentiation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
- Expert knowledge of Visual Arts content and effective instructional practices.
- Ability to design coherent sequences of lessons that deepen artistic understanding and develop technical and conceptual skills.
- Skills to use formative and summative assessment to guide instruction, diagnose learning needs, and provide actionable feedback.
- Understanding of how young people develop and ability to personalize instruction based on ability, background, interests, and learning needs.
- Ability to create and maintain high expectations for student progress, behavior, and classroom culture.
- High professional and ethical standards; models integrity and respect.
- Ability to build positive, productive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Flexible, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement.

Nice to Have
- IB and/or AP Visual Arts experience.
