AMSURG Corp. is seeking a Vice President of Operations to lead the strategic direction and operational performance of a significant Division. You will be responsible for building physician partnerships, setting growth strategy, and managing the clinical, financial, and operational performance of an approximately $300M portfolio. This role focuses on creating a shared vision and implementing the people and processes needed to drive results.
What You'll Do
- Foster a people-centric, success-oriented, and accountable company culture.
- Attract, recruit, retain, motivate, and lead the operations team.
- Ensure healthy board governance throughout the Division, participating in meetings and reporting on regulatory issues and partner relationships.
- Inform people development, professional growth, and management approach for the Division.
- Manage Directors of Operations and provide strategic direction to drive operational excellence.
- Work with the Senior Vice President to improve major regional partner relationships and center management.
- Coach and guide DOOs and Center leaders in building successful relationships between AMSURG and its providers.
- Articulate corporate initiatives to the Division and develop an enactment plan.
- Provide high-level oversight and continuous improvement of Quality, Operational Efficiency, Cost Management, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Teammate Engagement, Provider Engagement, and Growth.
- Develop and execute Division portfolio strategy.
- Foster and maintain deep relationships with key health system joint ventures, physician partnerships, and physician practice management MSOs.
- Develop Division business planning and growth strategy in partnership with the SVP and business development leadership.
- Work with SVP in supporting and fostering best-in-class Patient-centered-Care.
- Identify new regional opportunities within communities and across payers.
- Own relationships with physicians and their growth needs.
- Provide strategic direction to maintain strong relationships with existing health system joint ventures and physician practices.
- Support organic growth and strategic initiatives, driving alignment within the Division.
- Identify and introduce appropriate new initiatives to expand and grow same store and Division volume and revenue.
- Support acquisition due diligence efforts for new center opportunities.
- Represent the organization with key stakeholders.
- Foster and maintain strong physician partnerships.
- Drive a strong clinician value proposition and Patient-Centered-Care.
- Own regional physician Division, health system partnerships, and physician practice management operations.
- Sell and influence adoption of new strategic initiatives.
- Provide AMSURG advocacy updates to provider partners.
- Serve as an active member of Partnership Board of Directors.
- Be accountable for Division portfolio financial performance.
- Manage DOOs and provide strategic direction to support optimizing financial performance of the region.
- Develop and maintain understanding of Financial Reporting and operation of assigned DOO geography, including presentations and communications for quarterly forecasting and budget models.
- Assist the SVP with Managed Care messaging throughout their Division.
- Review the entire Division's portfolio, develop the Division’s budget, and assist ops leads to develop their center-level budgets.
- Provide leadership in crisis situations to less senior operations leaders.
- Assess crisis situations and leverage appropriate AMSURG resources in resolution.
- Develop and communicate a plan of action.
- Debrief with all involved parties upon resolution to determine root cause.
- Implement plans to mitigate root causes in the future.

- Strong management skills with the ability to oversee complex projects and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with presentations to senior management, boards, community Divisions, and physicians.
- Proven track record of taking initiative and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and a highly matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning and self-improvement.
- Proven ability to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and adapt to evolving situations.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, with an average travel commitment of 40-60%.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in business, healthcare administration or relevant field, and/or equivalent work.
- Minimum ten (10) years of healthcare operations management experience.
- Extensive experience leading healthcare operations in a multi-state integrated healthcare delivery system of a minimum of $100M + million revenue of Direct P&L experience.

This role reports to the Senior Vice President and manages Directors of Operations (DOOs) and Center leaders.
