About the Role

Women Donors Network and WDN Action are seeking a Vice President of Community and Development. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving fundraising strategy, membership growth, donor stewardship, and community-building for our organizations. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, you will play a critical part in scaling our impact and shaping the future of our donor community.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy including annual giving, major gifts, legacy giving, and collaborative funding partnerships.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and close major gifts, maintaining a personal portfolio of members and securing commitments at six and seven figure levels.
  • Build a relational fundraising culture that frames fundraising as mission-aligned work.
  • Develop moves-management systems to deepen donor relationships and strengthen retention.
  • Lead our member community growth strategy with the goal of doubling our growth of individual and institutional members.
  • Serve as primary staff lead for our Boards' Fundraising Committees, providing leadership and tools.
  • Provide strategic fundraising partnership to incubated initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team on donor-facing materials and fundraising tools.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Communications, Learning & Impact, Politics & Advocacy, and Finance teams.
  • Lead membership strategy across the full lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, renewal, stewardship, and offboarding.
  • Partner with the Learning & Impact Team to cultivate a membership culture of belonging and accountability.
  • Develop strategies to source and steward new values-aligned members.
  • Strengthen programs and gatherings that support members' political, personal, and philanthropic journeys.
  • Design and analyze the annual membership survey to drive strategy.
  • Strengthen regional engagement through gatherings, leadership pathways, and community structures.
  • Serve as primary staff lead to the Boards' Member Engagement Committee.
  • Leverage power mapping to understand member interests, capacities, and expertise.
  • Collaborate with WDN Action and cross-functional partners to support mobilization and donor activation.
  • Partner with other team leaders to ensure alignment across member engagement, development, and programmatic initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and manage a Community & Development team of four.
  • Foster an inclusive, relational, values-driven team culture.
  • Partner with the President & CEO and Management Team on organizational planning, budgeting, and strategy.
  • Model courageous communication, transparent decision-making, and solutions-oriented leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with organizations of comparable size.
  • Deep expertise in major gifts and donor acquisition/retention strategies, with demonstrated success leading campaigns.
  • Commitment to WDN’s mission and values, and experience in at least two of WDN’s funding priorities.
  • Proven track record cultivating, soliciting, and closing multi-tier donors, including six and seven figure gifts.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to speak plainly and with emotional intelligence across diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with fundraising CRMs (Salesforce is preferred), Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, and MacOS.
  • Must be based in the United States.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in social-justice-aligned 501(c)(3)/501(c)(4) organizations and/or membership networks.

Team & Environment

You will join a 27-person team and manage a team of four. We operate with a shared staffing structure across WDN and WDN Action. You will report directly to the President & CEO. Our culture is built on courage, commitment, curiosity, accountability, hope, and joy. We are a geographically distributed, remote team from diverse intersectional identities.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: A base salary starting at $220K per year.
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (paid by WDN at 100% for employees and 80% for dependents).
  • 401K Contribution (4% of your gross pay contributed by WDN and an additional 3% match).
  • 20 Vacation Days, 14 Sick Days, and 14 Company Holidays.

Work Mode

This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates must be based in the United States.
