The City of Saskatoon is hiring a Utility Collections Operator to join our Utilities and Environment division. Under the supervision of the Supervisor VI, you will operate various types of equipment essential for solid waste collection services in our community.
What You'll Do
- Operate solid waste collection vehicles, including automated side-loaders, rear loaders, forklifts, and automated side-loading tractor-trailers.
- Load, transport, and unload refuse, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform maintenance, regular servicing, and safety checks of assigned equipment.
- Maintain the interior and exterior of equipment in a clean, neat condition.
- Assist mechanical and service staff with equipment servicing as required.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of a Grade 10 education.
- Three years of related experience operating a variety of equipment.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver’s Licence.
- A current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.
- Successful completion of, or ability to complete, a recognized training module for heavy equipment operation.
- Knowledge of the rules, regulations, uses, and maintenance characteristics of the equipment.
- Knowledge of methods for loading, transporting, and unloading refuse and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly and consistently.
- Ability to follow all applicable procedures and policies, work with minimal supervision, and understand oral and written instructions.
- Ability to deal courteously with the public and other civic employees.
- The physical ability to perform the assigned duties.

You will report to the Supervisor VI within the Water and Waste Operations department, part of the larger Utilities and Environment division.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly wage of $31.46 CAD (based on 2026 rates).

This is an onsite position located in Saskatoon.
