Miami University Libraries is hiring a University Fire Marshal to lead and manage the university's comprehensive fire protection program. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our scholarly community by upholding the highest standards of fire and life safety compliance.
What You'll Do
- Supervise Fire Safety Specialists and an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist.
- Manage and implement inspections of life safety systems including smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detection, emergency lighting, and sprinkler systems.
- Manage and implement fire drill and emergency evacuations of residence halls.
- Manage scheduled and unscheduled inspections and evaluations.
- Investigate fires and prepare related reports and correspondence.
- Review new construction and renovation plans for fire and life safety compliance.
- Assist in developing and implementing Emergency Response Plans.
- Act as a liaison to city and state fire officials.
- Assist in the operation of a laboratory safety program.
What We're Looking For
- An Associate’s degree in fire science, fire protection engineering, or a related field with a minimum of one year of related experience OR a minimum of five years of related experience with some related education.
- Certification as a fire safety inspector in the State of Ohio.
- A valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Ability to obtain NICET certification in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Fire Protection systems within the first year of employment.
Nice to Have
- Currently hold NICET certification in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Fire Protection systems.
- Awareness level HAZWOPER training.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $80,000-$92,000.
- Benefit Eligible.
