The University of Vienna invites applications for a University Assistant Postdoctoral (Group Leader, Young Investigator) position to join the Bonifazi research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry. This central scientific role offers a 6-year framework to contribute to core research and teaching while progressively developing an autonomous research direction within a supportive environment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct collaborative and independent research in organic synthesis, developing an original program focused on new reactivity, synthetic methodology, and complex molecular architectures.
- Co-supervise bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, providing close scientific guidance and mentoring.
- Contribute to preparing joint research grant applications and develop independent funding proposals.
- Gradually assume responsibility for coordinating scientific projects, supervising junior researchers, and contributing to group organization.
- Participate in teaching activities at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, including lectures, exercises, and laboratory courses.
- Publish research results in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive working environment.
What We're Looking For
- A completed doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in organic synthesis.
- A maximum of one postdoctoral research experience in an internationally visible academic environment.
- Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, new reaction development, methodology, multi-step synthesis, or synthesis of complex architectures.
- Clear scientific interest in developing new reactivity and innovative synthetic concepts to construct complex architectures.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research, combined with a strong willingness to integrate into an established research group.
- Initial experience in, or strong motivation to acquire, third-party funding for academic research.
- Strong organizational, communication, and mentoring skills.
- High level of commitment, reliability, and ability to work collaboratively.

- Fixed-term contract for 6 years with a basic salary of EUR 5,014.30 (14 times a year), increasing with credited professional experience.
